Simply elegant. Our floor length Taffeta Skirt is a fabulous addition to any wardrobe with its soft, shimmering fabric and simple, straight design. The drawstring waist makes it very versatile, the fullness of the skirt can be spread over a hoop skirt or the extra material can be gathered at the back to give a hint of a bustle.
This skirt measures a 56" diameter at the hemline and is shown here with our Edwardian Hoop Skirt but can be worn without a hoop. One size fits most. This American made skirt features a drawstring waist in front and an elasticized back, with a maximum size of 50" at the waist. Pairs nicely with our Velvet Belt to mask the elastic waistband.
The skirt measures 42" long and of 90% acetate and 10% lycra for a soft drape. Dry clean or machine wash warm on gentle cycle and tumble dry low or dry flat.
I would only recommend this to a friend if they wanted a taffeta-like petticoat. I think the fabric is on the thin side (but, hey, the price wasn't bad!). It's acetate and reminds me of something that might line a cheap jacket. It is, in my opinion, too thin to wear as a skirt. There is a narrow, tunnel waist band with thin elastic inside and a self-fabric drawstring. I feel the elastic would lose its stretch pretty easily with much use.

It is so beautiful and very well made. I had a last minute opportunity to go to Galveston for Dickens on the Strand and needed some period clothing. Not only did I get clothing quickly, wearing it makes me feel like I've travelled back into a beautiful time period.
