Myrna Primm, Town Librarian

A place for everything and everything in its place. Miss Myrna Primm, a never-married bibliophile, is a stickler for organization. It came as no surprise on many levels when she was named head librarian for the town’s first lending library, an endeavor that was housed in a stately home that had long been in her family.

After attending Vassar in the late 1800s, Ms. Primm put her English degree to use teaching in the local schools but frankly found the general temperament of children to be quite unshelving to her sense of order. When Grandfather suggested a library as a philanthropic undertaking, Ms. Primm knew she was the just the woman to run it with the exactitude it required.

Trained in the Dewey Decimal system (the man was a genius in her eyes), she lined the shelves with works from Jane Austen to Mark Twain to Jules Verne and subscribed to the best newspapers and literary magazines in the country along with The Old Farmer’s Almanac for the folks that required such practical information.

Always dressed smartly and neatly in a crisp suit with meticulous detailing, Ms. Primm is the one book in the new library that you can safely judge by its cover.
